LOVO is a not-for-profit organisation working to improve the employability and wellbeing of marginalised women and their families, who mostly come from minoritised communities. We aim to foster a secure and stimulating environment that equips women with professional and personal skills, and engages them in self-care activities to inspire them to live healthy and fulfilling lives.
Our services include professional training courses (in-person and online), mentorship and advisory services. We run a weekly day centre where women can participate in creative and wellbeing activities, come out of isolation and meet new people, or simply enjoy some ‘ME’ time.
LOVO was set up in 2008 to address the gaps in service provision for women and girls living in South London, and to offer online services to women across the country. We support women with complex needs relating to health, low skills, low income, unemployment, childcare needs, Family dysfunctionality and language barriers.
Our mission is to be a one-stop centre and trusted partner to local women and their families , especially those from the BAME communities, and to build a sisterhood in which every woman feels safe and supported in realising her full potential.
All women are resourceful, with an incredible set of skills, knowledge
and capabilities that we at LOVO refer to as virtues.
Our Membership Programme focuses on these 5 virtue pillars.
Part of the focus of our work is to help build these virtues and work alongside our members to recognise their existing abilities and skills.
Every year LOVO runs Gems Day for younger women and girls in the community – a time for celebrating sisterhood, meeting new people, and offering fun and inspirational activities focused around wellbeing and skills-sharing.
The awards ceremony allows women and girls to celebrate exemplary character and outstanding achievements in their community.
